Man found dead inside vehicle in Brampton, Peel police say

Police say they received report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway of a residential area nearSt. Tropez Court and Millstone Drive at 12:55 a.m. A man with was found dead inside the vehicle.

Peel Regional Police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a vehicle in Brampton on Friday.

Investigators said they received report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway of a residential area nearSt. Tropez Court and Millstone Drive at 12:55 a.m.

A man with "obvious signs of trauma" was found dead when police arrived, Const. MoulikaSharma told reporters at the scene Friday. Sharma said police believe the man, who was found inside the vehicle, had been shot and died as a result of his injuries.

"We believe this is an isolated incident and investigators do not believe there is any threat to public safety," Sharma said.

"We do understand this is daunting to hear something early morning in a residential area to have something happenbut we are working diligently to determine the facts of this incident."

The homicide unit is investigating the death. No suspect description has been released at this time.

Man was in driver's seat of black SUV: witness

Sarita Rai, whose son called 911, said she came home from work around 12:40 a.m. Friday to see an unfamiliar black SUV parked in her driveway.

The car was on and there was a man sitting in the driver's seat, Rai said.

She said she called her children, who were inside her house. Rai's son came outside to ask the driver to leave, but the man did not respond and appeared unconscious, she said.

Her son also saw what looked like a bullet hole on the car's passenger window, Rai's daughter, Lovika, said.

After paramedics arrived, Lovika said they attempted CPR on the man. His bodywas removed from the scene around 4 a.m., she said.

Rai and her daughter said they did not hear any gunshots or see blood on the car.

Anyone who was in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 2 a.m. or may have dashcam footageis beingasked to contact police.
