Homicide team investigating 2 separate Lower Mainland shootings in less than 24 hours

Police are investigating after two people were shot dead in the Lower Mainland in less than 24 hours, including an unidentified man and a teenager.

In a statement Friday,police said they were called to the house in a remote area of Abbotsford B.C., for reports that shots were fired just after 4 a.m.

Officers found a man dead inside the home located in the7000 block of Nicholson Avenue. Police said officers searched the house and found a "drug lab" but did not provide further details.

On Saturday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said in a statement that two suspects were identified at the scene and taken into custody.

IHIT saidthey are working to identify the victim, who they say is not believed to live in the home.

Police said theincident is believed to be associated to the illegal drug trade. Investigators are still at the home to ensure it is, "no longer a risk to the neighbourhood."

Teen found in vehicle

RCMP in Burnaby, B.C., were also calledto a townhouse complex on Mulberry Drive, a secluded street a short drive from the Cariboo Road overpass crossing Highway 1, around noon on Thursday.

A 17-year-old boy was found dead in a vehicle.A statementsaid investigators believe the teenager was shot hours earlier, around 9 a.m.

IHIT said he lived in the complex where he died.

Around 9:15 a.m., police said a White Nissan Rogue was set on fire in the area of 173 Street and 101 Avenue in Surrey, about 18 kilometres east down the highway fromthe townhomes.

Police are working to determine if the shooting and the fire are connected.

One of the victim's family members, who asked not to be named,confirmedthe victim's age and said theylived in Burnaby.

After the Thursday shooting, the target vehicle was not visible from the street. Police appeared to be coming and going from the complex's underground parkade, which was taped off with multiple vehicles obstructing the entry.

Police said both shootings appear to have been targeted.
